The President's trip this year was to the 5 star K Club Hotel and Leisure Complex in Co. Kildare.
Thirteen couples left a cold Fermanagh on Sunday morning 24th March and headed South. For some of the group the afternoon was spent at the Curragh Race Course for the start of the flat racing season. The Rotarians had booked tables in the Tapas Bar where they could watch the racing in comfort. Despite lots of betting no one came away with a fortune, but a good time was had by all.
Sunday evening the President held a drinks reception in his room, this gave the group the chance to mingle and catch up on the days activities. Dinner was booked in The River Room restaurant, this was enjoyed by all. After the meal there was a little surprise for the President Elect Roy Crawford who had celebrated his 40th birthday the day before. Thanks to Jenny a cake was produced from the kitchen with a photo of Roy on top, this was enjoyed by all.
Monday morning after an enjoyable breakfast, Rotarians went for a walk in the grounds before heading to Kildare Shopping Village and some to the National Stud. A nice time was spent in both places. This was followed by some relaxation time in the Spa area.
President Kenny had arranged transport to Carton House Hotel for the evening meal, again an excellent meal was enjoyed by all. On return to the hotel some of the members gathered for a drink before heading to bed, and during this time the group was entertained by the President, Marie Wilson, David Hamill and Archie Birrell.
On Tuesday morning after breakfast the group departed on the journey home, some stopping at a local craft village for last minute shoppping.
An excellent time was had by all present in what proved to be a great location for a short break away together. Compliments were expressed to President Kenny for organising the trip.
