District Governor Jack Cunningham signs the visitors book

The Enniskillen Rotary Club hosted District Governor Jack Cunningham and his wife Maisie at our lunchtime meeting on the 10th September. Before the meeting President Kenny had arranged a visit to the Council Chamber where DG Jack met the Chairman Thomas O'Reilly and following a brief tour of the Townhall gifts were exchanged.

This visit was followed by a short trip on Past President Ivan Kee's cruiser on the River Erne, down to the castle and then back to the Killyhevlin Hotel. Although the weather was not very favourable President Jack was delighed to pose for photographs.

At the lunctime meeting fellow Rotarians and their partners assembled for lunch and all eagerly awaited the talk from Fr Brian D'Arcy on his role in the Media. As usual the talk was informative and also very witty at times. Following the talk Treasuer Tom Harpur proposed a vote of thanks to Fr. Brian, this was followed by a summary of his life to date which included his 50 year career in the Passionist Order, he is now serving his fourth consecutive term as Rector of the Graan Monastery, his love for Fermanagh GAA, involvement with the media, both radio and TV, and also columnist in the national press. Tom finished by announcing that the Enniskillen Club had decided to award Fr. D'Arcy with The Paul Harris Fellowship Award for his outstanding contribution to the community.

President Kenny then presented Fr. Brian with his Paul Harris medal and certificate. He was totally overcome by the presentation to the extent that he was stuck for words. The Award was acknowledged by all present with a long round of applause and a standing ovation.
