Visit By DG Declan Tyner 2015

District Governor Declan Tyner

President Ken and District Governor Declan Tyner

President Ken and members of the Rotary Club were delighted to welcome District Governor Declan Tyner and his wife Pat to the meeting on Monday 24th August. Declan and Pat were hosted by Assistant District Governor Jenny. Prior to the meeting Rotarian Ivan Kee and Avril welcomed them and some Rotarians to their home for coffee, this was followed by a short boat trip on the River Erne for some photos expertly taken by Club Photographer Roy Crawford, and then sailing to the Killyhevlin for the lunchtime meeting. Following an excellent lunch, DG Declan gave a talk to the Rotarians and guests present.

Declan thanked President Ken for the invitation to both of them to the meeting. They have had a long and valued association with the Enniskillen Club after they fell into "bad company" at the Cork conference in 1982 and every year since have joined with Club members and now regard them as good friends. Declan gave an interesting cultural talk on Enniskillen and the surrounding area, also mentioning some of the key names of people associated with the area. Declan shared President Ravi's theme for the year - be a Gift To The World, President Ravi asks us as Rotarians to give our gifts of time, talent and knowledge to improve lives across the globe.

District Governor Declan Tyner

President Ken presented a gift to DG Declan Tyner's wife Pat.

The Enniskillen Club has been doing this since its charter in 1955, during the sixty years the Club has thrived; we have carried out numerous exciting projects, locally, nationally and internationally. The Club theme this year is looking after disability locally, the main project being the Sensory Garden at the Killadeas Centre. The Club should continue to attract new members, retain existing members, make sure we have good projects, make the public aware of the club, make it easily contactable, make sure Rotarians and partners enjoy the fellowship, fun and social events which the Club offers. Declan outlined his plans for District meetings, he wishes to make them focused, relevant and interesting and asks members to support the Assistant Governor at these meetings, members of the District team will be available after the meeting to answer any issues the Club may have. There will be no District Project his year, but the Clubs are asked to assess the needs of the area and work on a local project. This year District is continuing its association with GORTA which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, earlier this year Declan visited Kenya and saw at first hand the work that is going on there; it was a life changing experience. Declan showed a video of the work that is going on in relation to this year's Project H2O. Declan finished his presentation by outlining the content of this year's conference in Cork.

President Ken thanked Declan for his excellent presentation and presented a gift to his wife Pat. President Ken also thanked all those who helped with the visit, and wished DG Declan well as he continued his visits around the country.
