Paul Harris Fellowship

Rotary Wheel

In 1957, the Rotary Foundation launched the Paul Harris Fellowship in memory of it's founder and as an expression of appreciation for those who have contributed to the Foundation's humanitarian and educational programmes. After more than forty years recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow remains a respected and prestigious honour for Rotarians.

President Sebs and Past President Angela McKinney

The Paul Harris Award to Angela McKinney Past President.

It was a great honour to present Angela McKinney with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award on Monday 18th November. Angela joined the Enniskillen Rotary Club in 2009 and has served on the council since 2010. Angela was Honorary Secretary of the club for 3 years and served as Club President 2014-2015.

In September 2014 she travelled to Rombo in Kenya with Past President Kenny Fisher and her daughter Dannielle to witness the work being done by Light of Maassi a charity set up by Elaine Bannon in 2006. There she was able to see the Sand Dam project, which had been funded by The Rotary club of Enniskillen as well as visiting various other humanitarian projects and work being carried out to help women’s groups. This visit no doubt wetted her appetite to support this very unique international project in the future.

During her year as President Angela presided over the clubs 60th birthday celebrations, which culminated in a grand gala evening of food and entertainment in the Killyhevlin on 3rd June 2015.

In September of this year Angela again travelled to Rombo as part of a group of 12 volunteers of Rotarians, wives, partners and her daughter Amy-Louise. Whilst there Angela together with her team “Angela’s Angels”, delivered a programme over 4 days entitled “Essential Gynaecology Skills”, supporting best practice in women’s health. The course was delivered at the local medical centre to a group of health workers, who all benefited greatly by widening their knowledge and diagnostic skills. The latter was witnessed before we left Rombo when Angela was called back to the clinic where she confirmed the health workers diagnosis of a very ill patient who was able to be transferred on for immediate treatment as a result.

Angela is also a champion of “CALMED”; Collaborative Approach in Lowering Maternity Encountered Deaths and she gave a very informative presentation about CALMED, at our recent district conference in Templepatrick. As a Rotary club we were very proud to have such a professional presenter as a member of our club.

It is therefore very appropriate that Angela should be a very worthy recipient of the highest honour that a Rotary club can bestow on one of their members “A Paul Harris Fellowship”.
