The Rotary Club of Enniskillen has launched its annual Santa Mobile for the 2017 Christmas season.

With less than three weeks to Christmas, Joe Maguire from St Vincent de Paul and Major Simon Wright of the Salvation Army (pictured) were presented with their annual Christmas cheques for £500 to assist in their efforts at Monday's lunchtime launch meeting.

Both charities will be working hard this festive season to help ensure no family in the county goes without and that every child has a toy to wake up to.

The Rotary Club’s Christmas appeal launch also means that Santa Claus is getting set for his annual tour of Fermanagh spreading festive cheer and raising much needed funds for local charities. The famous man in the red suit will be appearing on the streets of Enniskillen and Irvinestown very soon.

The Santa Mobile is a popular festive attraction when Father Christmas is driven through local towns, throwing sweets and goodies for all to share. For almost 20 years, the event has raised thousands of pounds while at the same time giving children a chance to give Santa any last minute requests ahead of December 25th.

Rotary Club President Henry Robinson said: “The Santa Mobile proceeds will be used for various local charities and good causes in Fermanagh through the year - St Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army being the first. “We would ask the public to support these very worthy charities whenever the Santa Mobile goes ‘on the road’ as all money raised is used within the county.”

The Santa Mobile will be visiting Enniskillen on December 16th, 18th, 19th and 23rd and Irvinestown on the 22nd.
