Nine Rotarians and their partners travelled to this year's Rotary Ireland Annual conference which was held at the splendid venue of Belfast's Titanic Centre. The conference commenced with lunch on Friday, followed by introductory remarks by DG Phillip Beggs and RI representative Bob Scott from Canada.
Rotary business was taken care of by Maria McGilly representing vocational services and Dale Orr promoting marketing and PR. The program was highlighted by invited speakers, such as Tony O'Reilly (Providence Offshore Oil) and Dr Eamon Phoenix, political historian.
The evening's entertainment was held at Belfast's City Hall with a drinks reception and dinner sponsored by Endina.
Saturday's program included advertisements for the RIBI conference in April 2015 in Belfast, as well as the RI conference in Sao Paulo. Presentations by Rotarians like Patricia Lindsay (Foundation), Garth Arnold (community services) and Gerry McElvogue (Membership services) were interspersed by talks from national speakers like Dame Joycelyn Bell Burnell ("The Universe and us") and Michael Ryan ("Bombardier Aerospace today"). The conference concluded with Grainne Bagnall and Bill Liao (Youth services) and Matt Porter and David Swettenham (International services).
This was followed by the District 1160 council meeting during which the Rotary Club of Enniskillen was awarded two trophies: the Howard Caskie Cup for best per capita support of The Rotary Foundation and The Rotary Foundation Trophy in memory of Chris Croft.
The evening concluded with a gala dinner in the replica first class dining room of the Titanic itself.
