Rotarian Wilfie Mahood
Wilfie joined the Rotary Club of Enniskillen 28 years ago in 1983 and although he has not held office is responsible for fundraising nearly £60,000 for charity. This came about when Past President John Trimble put an idea to the club and Wilfie was heard to say "Leave it with me - I'll see what I can do" - after hours and hours of planning, using his skills we benefited by the birth of the Santa mobile - a well-designed sound structure now known throughout this county for fund-raising at Christmas.
After our 50th year as a club, the President's chain was full of Past Presidents names and a new chain was purchased, but rather than storing the old chain away up came the call - "Leave it with me - I'll see what I can do". Wilfie again dedicated many hours to produce a quality display case to show of the chain of office which everyone can see outside the Devenish room of the Killhevlin hotel.
When Past President David Hamil was given the office of Sergeant at Arms he used to make amusing penalties to fine rotarians and the collection was lifted by hand and David said it's a pity we don't have a little collection box - this did not fall on deaf ears as again up came the call - "Leave it with me - I'll see what I can do"- and once more Wilfie went to work to produce a crafted polished wooden arm with a collection box built into it.
Having given freely of his talents and skills Wilfie Mahood is a very worthy recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship.
